Teaching Documents
At the Ryerson School of Urban and Regional Planning we launched our new Master's in Urban Development program this year. This term I am teaching our core course in "Planning for Sustainability" and one of the themes we are addressing in the course is the challenge planners face in communicating about urban sustainability issues. Accordingly, our students have created short podcasts (roughly 2 minutes each) about an urban sustainability topic that interests them. I gave the students the option to share their podcasts on a public site with the hope that the feedback they receive through comments will help them create a stronger second version. Eight students opted to post their podcasts on the public blog: https://weblogs.ryerson.ca/roller/w09pl8105/
In the spirit of facilitating student-to-student peer-review, If you're reading this blurb then perhaps you might consider directing your students to the blog? My hope is that they will listen and comment. Our students are happy to return similar peer-review favours this year and in the future. Perhaps this request might spark some thinking on your end about ways in which we can connect our students to create a broader network of learning in our planning programmes. If this idea interests you, please get in touch.
In the mean time, thank you for considering this request and I hope you will pass along the blog to your students and encourage them to listen.
